Kara Knight, Ed.D., MSW, LCSW - Clinical Director
Dr. Kara Knight, Ed.D., MSW, LCSW is a therapist, social worker, educator, and lifelong learner dedicated to compassionate, whole‑person, family‑centered care. She brings energy, purpose, and curiosity to her work, with a deep commitment to supporting healing through mental health practice, advocacy, and community connection.
Kara is inspired daily by the resilience of the families served at the Crisis Nursery and deeply values working alongside a mission‑driven team whose compassion and collaboration define the organization’s culture. She believes the strength of the Nursery lies in its people—professionals who meet families with empathy, dignity, and care during their most vulnerable moments.
With extensive experience as a teacher, leader, and clinician, Kara works with children, adolescents, and adults in high‑acuity outpatient settings. Her approach is strengths‑based, client‑centered, and grounded in evidence‑based practices. She currently leads child therapy at the Nursery and continues to support clients and families.
Kara began her journey at the Crisis Nursery as a practicum student, later served as Training Program Manager, and has remained deeply committed to the organization ever since. She also holds certifications in Prenatal and Postnatal Issues and Somatic Therapy and is passionate about supporting families—and the social workers who serve them—through every stage of the parenting journey.
