Responding to the Texas Floods
An Invitation to Collective Care & Compassion
At the Saint Louis Crisis Nursery, our mission is clear: keep kids safe and build strong families. It’s the motivation behind every service we offer and every moment of care that we provide. So, when we see or hear of unimaginable tragedies involving children and families, we are deeply grieved.
The catastrophic floods in Texas last weekend left devastation in their wake and we are heartbroken for all the children and families impacted. The pain of lives lost, the uncertainty faced by those with missing loved ones, and the trauma for those who survived is overwhelming.
To anyone feeling the weight of these events, in Texas and beyond: we are with you in this moment of collective grief. It can be difficult to know what to do in moments like these, especially for those of us watching from miles away. But we are reminded that moments of crisis and collective grief can be opportunities for collective care, reflection and compassion.
We invite you to pause with us – to acknowledge the heaviness of this moment, to hold the impacted families in your thoughts, to breathe deeply. This shared intention and compassion matters.
While our team here in St. Louis continues to care for families facing their own urgent crises, we hold the families in Texas close to our hearts. We remain more committed than ever to our vision of a world where every child can grow, thrive, and reach their full potential.
